Minimum Requirements

  1. HTTP Server Apache 2
  2. Database PostgreSQL 9.1
  3. PHP 5
  4. php5-pgsql
  5. php5-gd
  • This document assumes that Apache2 and PHP5 are already installed
  • You have access to your server with appropriate privileges

Install PostgreSQL on Ubuntu

The simplest way to install PostgreSQL is to type the following command.
sudo apt-get install postgresql
However, this command will install the old version 8.4
Sancho has been tested with PostgreSQL 9.1 and here are the instructions.
apt-get install python-software-properties
add-apt-repository ppa:pitti/postgresql
apt-get update
apt-get install postgresql-9.1 libpq-dev
apt-get install postgresql-contrib-9.1

sudo -u postgres psql template1
alter user postgres with encrypted password 'your_password';
\q
And that's it, PostgreSQL should be online.

Install Sancho

  1. Download zip file from here
  2. Uncompress the zip file
  3. Make a new directory Sancho (default). Any other name will do.
  4. Upload extracted files to your website in the folder you have created using any FTP program such as FileZilla.
  5. Go to http://your-domain.com/sancho
  6. Sancho - Configuration Status page will be displayed with any errors and short instructions of how to fix them.
